This eye-catching loach features a steel-blue to gray body with bright orange or red fins, making it a visually striking addition to any aquarium. In the wild, Red Tail Loaches inhabit areas with soft substrates, rocks, and dense vegetation, often in fast-moving rivers and streams. They are social and active bottom dwellers, feeding on insects, worms, crustaceans, and organic debris. In aquariums, the Red Tail Loach thrives in a well-decorated tank with plenty of hiding spots such as caves, driftwood, and rocks to mimic its natural habitat. A soft substrate is recommended to protect its sensitive barbels. This species is best kept in groups of at least five, as it is naturally social and forms hierarchies within its group.
