Description

The Half Banded Skinny Eel (Macrognathus circumcinctus) is a fascinating freshwater species native to slow-moving rivers and streams in Southeast Asia. This eel-like fish features a slender body adorned with distinctive half-bands that extend across its sides, providing excellent camouflage in its natural environment.

Typically found in soft, sandy or muddy substrates, the Half Banded Skinny Eel thrives in habitats with plenty of hiding spots, such as driftwood, rocks, and aquatic vegetation. Its nocturnal nature means it spends much of the day buried in the substrate, emerging at night to hunt for small invertebrates and worms.

This species is relatively peaceful and can be an intriguing addition to a well-maintained aquarium, provided it has soft substrate, ample hiding places, and a secure lid to prevent escapes.
