Description

The Albino Cherry Barb (Puntius titteya variant) is a small, peaceful freshwater fish known for its pale pinkish-white body with a subtle golden hue and bright red eyes. This selectively bred variant of the Cherry Barb adds a unique and elegant touch to aquariums while maintaining the active and social nature of its naturally colored counterpart.
In the wild, Cherry Barbs are native to the slow-moving rivers and streams of Sri Lanka, where they inhabit densely vegetated areas with soft, slightly acidic water. They are omnivorous, feeding on small insects, algae, and plant matter while staying in loose schools.
In aquariums, the Albino Cherry Barb thrives in a well-planted tank with open swimming areas and soft substrate. They are active schooling fish that should be kept in groups of at least six or more to encourage natural behavior and reduce stress. Their peaceful temperament makes them excellent companions for other small, non-aggressive species such as tetras, rasboras, and Corydoras.
Growing to about 5 cm (2 inches), the Albino Cherry Barb is a hardy and low-maintenance species, ideal for small to medium-sized community aquariums. Its unique coloration, active schooling behavior, and peaceful nature make it a perfect addition to planted tanks and beginner-friendly setups.
