Air Stones
We all know that a well-oxygenated and circulated tank adds to the overall health, growth and stress-free living of our fishy friends and we use Air Stones to help make this happen in our tanks.
But did you know they should be replaced?
Air Stones are a great way to increase the amount of dissolved oxygen in your tank’s water, help promote circulation throughout your tank and compared to other air filtration systems air stones produce smaller and quieter bubbles so there is less noise to stress out your fish (and you!).
If you use Air Stones remember that they do need replacing. This can vary depending on what your Air Stones are made from so here are some of the signs to watch out for:
Reduced Bubble Production – If you notice fewer or larger bubbles.
Mineral Buildup – They can become coated with a white or cloudy film.
Crumbly Texture – If it becomes brittle or starts to crumble it really is time for it to be replaced.
