Colbalt Blue Dwarf Gourami

In the wild, Dwarf Gouramis are native to the slow-moving rivers, ponds, and floodplains of South Asia, particularly in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. They inhabit densely vegetated waters and use their labyrinth organ to breathe atmospheric air, allowing them to survive in low-oxygen environments.

In aquariums, the Cobalt Blue Dwarf Gourami thrives in a well-planted tank with soft substrates, driftwood, and floating plants to mimic its natural habitat. It is a peaceful species, making it ideal for community tanks with other small, non-aggressive fish such as tetras, Corydoras, and rasboras. While males can occasionally show territorial behavior, especially toward other gouramis, they are generally calm and easy to care for.

Growing to about 6–7 cm (2.5–3 inches), the Cobalt Blue Dwarf Gourami is an excellent choice for small to medium-sized aquariums. Its vibrant blue hues, graceful movements, and peaceful temperament make it a captivating addition to planted and community tanks, especially for aquarists looking for a colorful and low-maintenance centerpiece fish.
